B'nai Mitzvah

A child’s Bar or Bat Mitzvah is an exciting time for the whole family. Traditionally, it occurs after a child’s thirteenth birthday, the age at which he/she is recognized in Judaism as a fully responsible member of the community. This is a period of emotional and spiritual growth, and special study and preparation. The Beth-El clergy and staff are here to support you every step of the way.

Goals of the Beth-El B’nai Mitzvah Program

· To instill a thirst for Jewish knowledge and to inspire students to adopt Judaism (God, Torah and Israel) as their personal way of life.

· To encourage the practice of the Mitzvot of Torah, Avodah (service), and Gimilut Chasadim (acts of loving -kindness).

· To prepare students to lead the congregation in prayer and to understand and explain the meaning of prayers.

This B'nai Mitzvah Handbook was designed to help and guide you through this awesome experience.
