Beth-El Congregation

Beth-El’s Women of Reform Judaism Welcomes You!

Sisterhood strives to include all the women of Beth-El. We know that many women are at different stages in their lives, and we want to celebrate individuality. This year we have many exciting new programs, from theater outings and cooking classes with flair, to the familiar established programs, which benefit Beth-El at large. We can all agree that each one of us carries a full load. That is why the Sisterhood provides a wide range of ways to be involved. Please choose the activities that fit best into your life. Don’t feel like you have to participate in everything. Some of our members are part-time participants and some are just “supporters” because they believe in all that WRJ does to enhance Temple life.

What is WRJ?

Women of Reform Judaism is part of a national chain of women’s groups within the Reform movement. Our sisterhood has a history of supporting our Religious School, camp scholarships, hosting important holiday receptions, planning meaningful spiritual celebrations and operating the Judaica gift shop. WRJ develops congregational leadership through its membership, by serving in various roles within the congregation and by providing women the opportunity to take on leadership. Last, but not least, WRJ provides the magical feeling of bonding, sharing, and just plain fun when women come together.

Benefits of Affiliation. Why Should I Join?

  • Many women join to support the social action projects that are mentioned above
  • Some join because they have young children and appreciate and want to support all the sisterhood does for our Religious School
  • Some women join for social reasons and to attend events to meet and be with other Jewish women
  • Often non-Jewish women join because their spouse is Jewish and it is a great way to network with other women, and learn how to keep a Jewish home
  • Some women may join even though they know they don’t have the time right now to participate, because they believe in what Sisterhood and WRJ stands for and they want to show their support
